This ministry was started when a man serving a life sentence at Phillips State Prison, during a class I was teaching with two men from Dunwoody First Baptist, told me that I should mentor men in prison, and he gave me the name Help One Save One. I asked him if he was sure he was O.K. with me using that name, and he said yes. A few months later, in March 2014 I, with my wife Shelly's support, I started this ministry. Since March of 2014, I have served 485 men at Clayton and Phillips Transitional Center. This is their last stage of prison where these men get to go out, work a job, save some money to give them a better chance at success on the outside. The recidivism rate of the 485 men I have been blessed to serve is only 8%. Keep in mind that God actually does the work if we will be faithful and show-up to help these men.
I have logged 100,000 miles in my 2003 Honda accord and my 12 passenger 2014 Ford E-350 van. I use the van to take men from Clayton TC to church and community service each month. The van was donated by Tony Laniewicz a couple of years ago. I have also logged 1,720 service hours. I do this full-time. This ministry is a non-profit, and it can take donations af all types. I pray each day that God will continue to bless this ministry!
