Published by Helpone Saveone · Yesterday at 10:55am · This past Saturday was our Dugout men's group and community service for the men from Clayton Transitional Center. I had 9 men with me this time. Community service serves as a time for the men to be out of the prison environment while they happily serve others. This puts service to others first on their plate! This week we only had time for 2 hours of work, but it looked like 4 hours once they were finished. I am going to try to add two articles that talk about how effective community service is to men coming out of prison, and how it removes the focus from themselves to others.
http://www.dcor.state.ga.us/…/Info_Sheets_FaithandCharacter…. Here is the link for faith based prisons in Georgia, which also talks about reentry.
Here is the link for the other article:
file:///C:/Users/taylor/Documents/Prisoner%20Community%20Service%202016.html. This article specifically talks about the benefits to prisoners when they participate in community service.
The goal is to reduce recidivism, which creates public safety, reduces our state income taxes, and helps to create a mind-set that will hopefully keep these men in society as productive, Godly citizens!

Published by Helpone Saveone · Just now · This past saturday I took 11 men from Clayton Transitional Center to Dugout men's group, and then to a New community service project. We helped the local chapter of Christian Library International. These folks are all over the country. They get money donations, Bible donations and Christian books. They then sort and pack boxes full of Bibles and Christian books that go into prisons all around the country. Many of us found some very old Bibles they could not use, but we were allowed to keep a few. I have one dating back to the early 1800's!!
When these men go out to do community service, they give it 100%. We are teaching them, and reminding ourselves how life is best lived when give of ourselves Freely!! Our time is more precious than money. We don't know how much time on Earth we have, and we have no way of getting more time for ourselves. It gives me great humility to work with these men, and I am proud of them for how well they serve others. If that is the main thing that I can pass on to them; I am sure it would be pleasing to Jesus!!

Published by Helpone Saveone · July 5 at 7:09am · I was Blessed to take a full-van load to church this past Sunday, 11 men. Two of the eleven had not been to 12Stone yet. They truly enjoyed the worship experience. The teaching was on The History of The church. Many of the men were intrigued because they had never been shown a church timeline, therefore, missing out on a lot of history. Many knew little or nothing about the Reformation and Martin Luther! I told them I will show the movie, which is in my library of movies so that they can see how the Reformation unfolded! The cool thing is the youngest man there, 25 years old, was totally captivated by the teaching because he loves history! It was a wonderful evening capped off with dinner at Steak N Shake. I believe it is important for these men to be in church before they completer their prison sentence. It truly sets the tone for their life on the outside: Church must be a weekly part of their schedule!! God is too Good!
